Changing the North Direction

You can easily change which direction is North by rotating the compass. The compass direction is used during a realtime walkthrough to calculate shadows based on the position of the sun. It also determines the North direction when adding a lot boundary using survey bearings.

To change the compass direction:

1.   Click the Rotate tool.

2.   Select the compass by clicking it.

3.   Left click and drag in a circular motion to rotate the compass.

When rotating the compass in the perspective view, you can see the sky rotate at the same time.

Note: You may need to zoom out in order to see the compass. To do this, first select the top-down view and then use the Zoom tool to zoom out until the compass is visible.
