Adding a Path Grader

A Path Grader is a path that flattens, and optionally
raises or lowers, the terrain. You can use it to create sloping driveways,
pathways, and other complex shapes.
To add a Path Grader:
1. Click Add Path
Grader.
2. Change the Width
property to the desired width.
3. Draw the path's
centerline by clicking to add points. Press Backspace to remove the last
point. Press Esc to cancel.
4. Right-click at the
last point when finished.
Unlike the Area Grader, with the Path Grader you can adjust
the height at each point.
To raise and lower points:
1. Select the path
grader.
2. Click Edit
points to enable point editing.
3. Select one or more
points.
4. Adjust the height
using the Height property. Use positive numbers to raise the terrain, and
negative numbers to lower it. You can also adjust the height by holding
Ctrl while dragging the points up and down.
5. When done, click
Edit points again to leave point editing mode.
The following landscape design shows how a path grader can
be used to create a curved and sloping driveway.

Tips:
• You
can use as many path graders as needed.
• Path
graders can be any size, up to the size of the workspace.
• You
can rotate the path grader using the Rotate tool. See Rotating Objects for more information.
• To
flatten and optionally raise or lower areas to a consistent height, use the Area Grader object.
• In
some situations, you may need to control the order that terrain sculpting
objects are applied. See Controlling the Terrain Sculpting
Order for details.
